portfolio navigation Dutch Traditional Leeboard Yachts

Aphrodite is a sailboat, built in The Netherlands. The
design is based on a traditional type fishing vessel,
primarily used in shallow inland sea waters. This is why
these boats have no keel, but leeboards: two large
wooden lifting foils, located on the leeward side of
the boat. The leeboards are shaped in an advanced
airplane wing shape. The hulls as well as their
wooden leeboards and rudders are carefully designed
and tested for performance. This type of boat is very
popular in Holland both as a family boat and for
competitive racing. I worked on many of these kinds
of boats, specializing in building lee boards, wooden
rudders, deck features as well as their frequently
luxurious interiors.
